Monthly Meetings & Upcoming Events

We meet the 3rd Monday of every month at the Eastern Monroe County Library in Stroudsburg, PA.

Our monthly meetings are focused on learning and playing these wonderful instruments. We strive to learn & develop new tunes and songs that members bring and then "jam" at the end of the night to reinforce the learning and to develop our playing skills with others. If you're in the Pocono region come join us! BEGINNERS are especially welcome!!! (Other acoustic instruments are certainly welcome too!)

In APRIL we will continue to develop the skills of some of our newer players and play an arrangement of Holy Manna that uses the DAA tuning and has 3 parts. We'll also review some of the tunes we previously learned and jam a little too. Come out and join us! We'll go at a pace all of us can learn from.

In MARCH we continued to digest the skills we gained at the WDF and learned an Irish tune, Murphy's Slide, plus an Irish hymn written in the 1800's to the tune, Our Ruler. We used an arrangement tabbed by Tull Glazener which you can find by going to his website and clicking on the TAB button.

In FEBRUARY we attempted digest some of the new skills we learned at the WDF by having those who attended class teach us what they learned. We had some new attendees and I believe we all had a great time and made music!!

Over the past two years we have been working our way through Stephen Seiferts' excellent book, "Join the Jam" and have been enjoying this as a club. It is an excellent resource of traditional "jam" tunes. If you don't have Stephen's book you can order it directly through his Website - http://www.stephenseifert.com - and it comes with teaching CD's as well so you can get a head start on the club meeting!(This has tab for the Mountain Dulcimer players and music notation (melody) for the Hammered Dulcimer players.)
