Ken says, “This a reproduction of a mountain dulcimer made by Charles N. Prichard of Huntington, WV in the late 1800s. The wood is poplar painted black. The pegs are oak as are the nut and bridge. It has staple frets (no 6 1/2) under one string; two drones. It comes with an extra set of strings made from music wire. The turkey quill and wood noter are also included. There is no case.”

Charles N. Pritchard was an important contributor to the spread of the mountain dulcimer and one of the first to mass produce and distribute them to the general populace in his time.  This is an excellent representation of Pritchard’s work and will be a great addition to anyone’s collection of these wonderful instruments.
